Dangers of Black Mold

In the realm of household nuisances, molds are often underestimated. They can lead to various health issues, property damage, and unwarranted stress. Among the diverse types of mold, black mold stands out as one of the most notorious. In this blog post, we will delve into the distinctions between black mold and common mold to shed light on the peril black mold poses to our living spaces.

Understanding Mold

Molds are a type of fungus that thrives in damp, warm environments, making our homes the perfect breeding grounds. They propagate through airborne spores and can colonize swiftly, particularly in areas with high humidity levels. Identifying the type of mold infesting your home is crucial for effective remediation.

Common Mold

Common mold encompasses a wide range of mold species that commonly invade households. These molds are typically less harmful than black mold but can still trigger allergies and respiratory issues in susceptible individuals. Common mold can vary in color from green to brown to black, depending on the species.

Black Mold: The Silent Menace

Black mold, scientifically known as Stachybotrys chartarum, is infamous for its toxic properties. Unlike common molds, black mold releases mycotoxins into the air, which can lead to severe health problems upon prolonged exposure. The distinguishing feature of black mold is its slimy black appearance, often found in areas with prolonged moisture exposure like leaky pipes or water-damaged areas. Black mold develops a putrid smell similar to death and decay with an almost sweet pungent odor. It takes time for the mold to mature to emit such odors in my own personal experience. We did not see it externally or smell it until the damage was already done.

When dealing with black mold, it is essential to address the infestation promptly and efficiently. Due to its high toxicity levels, black mold remediation is best left to professionals to minimize health risks associated with exposure. Symptoms of black mold exposure range from respiratory issues, skin irritation, to more severe conditions in vulnerable individuals like infants, elderly, or those with compromised immune systems.

Serious Side Effects:

Many of the side effects caused from black mold mycotoxin exposure is overlooked and never related to this direct cause. The health issues caused by mold take on many forms and manifest in various parts of the body disrupting the nervous and immune systems wreaking havoc while creating a broad scale of symptoms. Symptoms include:

  • Brain Fog and Cognitive impairment

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Swelling

  • Prolonged rashes or raised whelps (Most commonly taking on a circular shape)

  • Loss of balance, dizziness, vertigo

  • Blurred vision

  • Muscle and joint pain

  • Digestive issues

  • Fertility problems

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Debilitating headaches and random pains

Mystery Diagnosis:

Even with months of research and photos documented in hand at 15 different doctors pleading for help to treat the Mold poisoning we were being corrected and shut down. Repeatedly being told that "Mold only causes respiratory problems." Your symptoms are not mold related, lets run some blood work." Everything comes back normal. They prescribe steroids and antibiotics to fight what they think is an infection and fight the rash. And then all hell breaks loose! Your more sick and miserable than ever before. The rash is only getting worse and you cant even function because the pain and brain fog are so intense. Why is it worse? Antibiotics and steroids feed the mold! And it causes leaky gut which creates a whole other world of suffering and symptoms. These medicines are not the answer for mold and yeast overgrowth they exasturbate the symptoms and create an even better environment for mycotoxin and candida to thrive for a long time.

Detecting Mycotoxins

To finally receive a confirmation diagnoses the stars aligned and I was referred to a natural doctor in my area by random people I happened across. I had already done all of the research and did a deep deep dive into black mold poisoning and holistic protocols to detox and heal because I was only 26 and I was so done feeling like death all of the time, my brother and I were both miserable and nearly incapacitated by this whole ordeal seriously feeling close to death some nights with zero exaggeration on the matter.

So this Doctor, after the consultation confirmed that all of my research was well done and accurate and he actually commended me on taking the steps necessary to try to heal myself rather than accepting the claims of the conventional doctors. He performed a 'Live Blood Analysis' he exclaimed that in 22 years of practice he had never seen mycotoxins colonized in any bodies blood as they were in mine saying he could visually see the hell that I had been going through. I have never felt so relieved and so validated as I did in that very moment.

My Mission:

I am here to share my experiences and the years of knowledge that I have obtained as well as receiving training and a holistic health and wellness certification through the Sears Institute as well as a few others to help end the suffering from this silent killer and spread awareness to those in need. This is one of many posts coming from this series. So please follow me for more information.
